Tonica Kombucha supports local Ontario charities during COVID-19 Crisis
April 1, 2020
TORONTO – Tonica Kombucha, Canada’s first kombucha company, announced today that it will be donating monthly to Feed Ontario’s Emergency Response for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis.
Zoey Shamai, Tonica’s Owner and President, said, “COVID-19 is bringing a heightened level of anxiety and hardship to our Canadian community and the whole world.
“I founded Tonica to share well-being with everyone and the success of this company is thanks to the support of our customers and retailers across Canada who have embraced this. At this critical time, we consider it our responsibility to give back. Our April donation will provide approx. 3,000 meals over the course of the month.”
Feed Ontario works to distribute food and unite local food banks to eradicate hunger and
poverty. Feed Ontario has a network of 130 direct member food banks and supports over 1,200
hunger-relief programs across Ontario. At this time, Feed Ontario has set up a COVID-19
Emergency Response as food banks across the province are barely keeping up with demand and
most of their existing programs are on hold or being repurposed for emergency response.
