New Enlist product contains only 2,4-D

Corteva Agriscience has launched a new herbicide, Enlist 1, a standalone version of its new 2,4-D choline product.

The product is registered for use on Enlist E3 soybeans and Enlist corn.

Why it matters: Diverse herbicide options help with the control of the growing number of herbicide-resistant weeds.

Enlist 1 is a stand-alone version of 2,4-D choline, which allows for versatility, compared to Corteva’s first herbicide with the new 2,4-D product, Enlist Duo, which also included glyphosate.

Enlist 1 can be tank mixed with glyphosate or glufosinate, helping growers to tackle hard-to-control and resistant weeds.

“We knew a lot of customers wanted more flexibility in rates and tank-mix partners. Enlist 1 fits their needs,” says David Kloppenberg, row crop herbicide category leader for Corteva AgriScience.

Much like Enlist Duo, Enlist 1 contains Colex-D technology.

It is a more stable 2,4-D product with built-in drift control, low odour, near-zero volatility, and better handling and mixing properties.

“The new formulation of 2,4-D has near-zero volatility and reduced drift so growers and custom applicators can expect on-target applications of the herbicides, even when spraying in the heat of the day,” says Kloppenburg.

“With the launch of Enlist 1, farmers will receive superior weed control and flexibility, without compromising yield or quality when tending to their fields.”

The product controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds including glyphosate-resistant biotypes.

“We recommend Enlist 1 to be consistently tank-mixed with glyphosate or Liberty 200 SN to ensure better control of grasses and for better resistance management,” said Kloppenburg.

“What is most exciting is growers, and custom applicators, now have a tool which is fully enabled for post-emergence applications up to the R2 stage. Even on very hot days, you can apply Enlist 1 with confidence.”

Enlist herbicides can be found at farmers’ local crop protection retailers.
