SUSGRAINABLE LAUNCHES RETAIL READY BAKING LINE-UP ON EARTH DAY 2021
Susgrainable is proud to be launching their first line of retail ready baking mixes alongside their signature Upcycled Barley Flour. The company is launching 3 initial SKU’s, a Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, a Pancake & Waffle Mix and the Upcycled Barley Flour. A 4th SKU is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2021.
“This is a very exciting time for Susgrainable. The new packaging will allow us to partner with established retailers throughout BC while also finally being able to meet demand and requests for our products that have come in from across Canada,” states Marc Wandler, Susgrainable co-founder and CEO.
Not only does the new packaging allow for easier and more convenient distribution; it will also help better communicate the very important mission the company is trying to tackle. “Food waste is finally becoming a big topic of conversation and we were lucky enough to have discovered the opportunity and come up with a scalable and delicious solution to the problem prior to it becoming mainstream news” exclaims Marc. The launch of the packaging coincides with Earth Day, a significant date for any impact company focused on the environment.
The packaging tells the Susgrainable story while also showcasing front and centre the impact each bag will have. While Susgrainable has upcycled over 2400kg of spent grain to date, they aim to eclipse the 10,000kg milestone before 2021 is over. This packaging will help us get there… now we just have to get it into customers’ hands.

Founded in 2018, Susgrainable aims to be the leader within the upcycled food space in Canada. Operating in the East Vancouver community of Strathcona, they have created partnerships with multiple craft breweries and aim to be a model circular economy company within the food space. They originally launched a line of finished baked goods made from Upcycled Barley Flour, which can be found at local cafes around Vancouver. Upcycled Barley Flour is made by dehydrating and milling spent grain, a by-product from beer production which is high in plant-based protein and fibre while also being very low in sugar.
