15 facts about the 2024 Vancouver International Wine Festival

The 45th annual Vancouver International Wine Festival kicks off Feb. 24 through March 3, 2024.

A celebration of all things wine, the event sees more than 145 wineries participate. This year’s event carries the slogan The Wine World is Here, a suitable nod to the assemblage of international producers.

In anticipation of the early 2024 event, we’ve rounded up 10 interesting facts and figures about the annual festival:

    1. 18,000 — the approximate number of admissions expected over the eight-day event.
    2. 20,000 — the approximate number of wine bottles expected to be poured and/or purchased at this year’s festival.
    3. 1,150 — the approximate number of wines expected to be offered throughout the festival with 800 on offer through the Tasting Room and 350 expected to be poured at special festival events.
    4. 12 — the number of countries expected at this year’s festival.
    5. 70 — the number of participating wineries hailing from Italy alone.
    6. 25 — the approximate number of participating restaurants, caterers and hotels.
    7. 1979 — the first year of the Vancouver International Wine Festival.
    8. 40 — the approximate number of wine festival events planned at 20 venues throughout the city, including 30 public events and 10 trade/industry gatherings.
    9. $10 million — the amount of money raised by the festival since its start for the performing arts, including $2 million for its beneficiary partner Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival since 2013.
    10. Nov. 15 — the date for advance tickets and Super Passes (at 9:30 a.m.). All tickets for public/trade events will go on sale in January.
