2022 MASTER MERCHANDISER AWARDS WINNERS ANNOUNCED

TORONTO – Tuesday, October 25, 2022… Awards for the best merchandising displays in Canadian grocery were presented at The Merchandising Excellence Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Winners from the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers’ (CFIG) Master Merchandiser Awards Program honours and recognizes best point-of-sale merchandising in the grocery industry. It enables retailer and supportive manufacturers the opportunity to stimulate purchase by building effective displays, promotions, and events. A total of 15 prizes were awarded (3 different store size groupings and 5 different merchandising categories).

A panel of experienced industry judges determined category winners based on: creativity & visual appeal; effective use of signage; display shopability; effective cross-merchandising; and supporting manufacturer compliance. Merchandising displays, promotions and events were held between August 12th, 2021, and August 12th, 2022.

Supplier – Cary Bailey – Saputo Description: This Grey Cup display of Saputo’s new !rmstrong 220 gram slices scored big for South Hill Fine Foods.

Buy-Low Foods, Didsbury, AB Greg Poirier

Supplier – Sharon Gower -Saputo Description: _his _ay long weekend display featured _aputo’s new !rmstrong _lices. 

Thick Marble and Mexican Fiesta were the perfect choices for a start-of summer barbeque.

Coleman Family

Supplier – Jacueline Stanford – Kruger Products Description: Coleman Food Centre and Kruger created this display to introduce Bonterra for a Better Planet – Kruger’s newest brand.

Themed Event

Supplier – Christine Golfetto – A. Lassonde Description Rabba #141 worked with Lassonde to set up this large display of Jones Soda for the Back-To-School crowd.

Supplier – Sharon Gower – Saputo Description: Saputo and Buy-Low Foods Langdon studied hard and came up with this top-class Back-To-School display featuring Armstrong and Milk2Go.

Supplier – General Mills Description: Tremblett’s and General Mills created the Old El Paso Stadium with 300 cases of kits and components for Super Bowl Game night.

Perimeter Display

Supplier – Dave Farley -Maple Leaf Foods – and Wonderbrands Description: Central Fresh Market’s Barbeque display featured Maple Leaf and Schneider’s products merchandised with Wonder buns.  Readi Crisp Bacon, Hot Rods and Pepperettes were there too for summer snacking.

Supplier – Sharon Gower – Saputo Description: The back-to-school bus stopped at Market Street Vulcan.  The custom-made POS and decorations highlighted Armstrong Cheese, Milk2Go and Vitalite products from Saputo..

Calgary Coop #8 Oakridge, Calgary, AB Karrie Fox

Supplier – Darlene Taylor – A. Lassonde Description: Lassonde and Calgary Co-op Oakridge created this stunning Apple Month display at the store entrance, featuring the Coop truck and SunRype 75th anniversary POS surrounded and filled with apples, SunRype juices and fruit snacks.

Vince’s _ewmarket. _he flavourful chips and thirst-quenching AHA were the perfect pair.

Supplier – Rick Friesen – McCormick and KraftHeinz Description: Freson Bros. encouraged their Hanna shoppers to make barbeques even tastier with these McCormick and KraftHeinz products.

Supplier – Cory Morash, Kevin Kental – Coca-Cola, Kevin Olexson – Old Dutch and Linda Laidlaw -Nestlé Canada Description:. It was good versus evil for Halloween at Save-On-Foods Orchard Plaza, with Spiderman on one side of the display, and Venom on the other, featuring products from Coca-Cola, Old Dutch and Nestlé.

Supplier – Patrice Provencher – Nestlé Canada Inc. Description: A Perrier Christmas tree put the large bottles of the popular Nestlé brand front and centre at Rabba Fine Foods.

Supplier – PepsiCo Foods Description: PepsiCo Foods and Save-On-Foods, Park & Tilford brought it all together in the name of Love for Valentine’s Day.
