5 must-try flavours from the Metro Vancouver Croissant Crawl

Article content

Flaky and delightfully buttery, croissants are a classic treat.

A celebration of the popular French pastry, called the Metro Vancouver Croissant Crawl, returns Nov. 1 to 21 with a selection of local bakeries taking part to create creative versions of the Viennoiserie treat. Billed as a “self-guided tour of limited-edition croissant flavours and creations,” this year’s festival includes 35 vendors from around Vancouver — and beyond.

Back for its third year, the latest iteration sees a few updates to the foodie event, according to organizers.

This year’s Croissant Crawl has expanded to run over three weeks, and has also expanded to include participating eateries in Surrey, Burnaby and Richmond. A gluten-free vendor, Delish Gluten Free Bakery in Port Coquitlam, has also joined the food event roster lineup that already sees plant-based varieties among its options.

The Croissant Crawl sees participating baked goods eligible for awards, including the Fan Favourite Flavour and the new Most Creative Croissant award, which will be selected by Nicolas Baudouin, Consul General of France in Vancouver.

Quantities of the special creations are limited, so pre-orders are “highly encouraged” from participating vendors that offer that option. To learn more, visit Vancouvercroissantcrawl.com.

While we would easily aim to try them all, here are the croissants that are at the top of our must-try list:
