The EU’s average potato yield stands at 34,500 kg/ha, i.e. 3.6% more than in 2020

According to the latest JRC-MARS report on the monitoring of the main crops in the European Union and its neighboring countries, the average yield of the potato crops in the EU stands at 34,500 kilos per hectare, i.e. 3.6% higher than the 33,300 kilos per hectare achieved in 2020, and 4.8% higher than the average yield of the last five years, which stood at 33,000 kilos.

France has an estimated yield of 41,500 kilos per hectare, i.e. 6.9% more than the 38,800 kilos per hectare achieved in the previous year, and 2.5% higher than its 40,500 kilos per hectare average of the previous five years.

It should be noted that these estimates were carried out before knowing the consequences that the frosts in April may have had on French agriculture.

Germany has an estimated yield of 44,800 kilos per hectare. This is 6.7% higher than the 42,000 kilos per hectare achieved in 2020 and 8% higher than the average of the last five campaigns, which stood at 41,500 kilos.

According to estimates, Spain has an average production yield of 31,500 kilos per hectare, i.e. 1.6% less than the 32,000 kilos per hectare achieved in 2020 and 0.7% less than its average in the last five years, which stood at 31,700 kg.
