Lan Handling notices increased demand for automation due to staff shortage

In the first six months of 2021, Lan Handling Technologies noted a record order intake of no less than 18 handling systems for seven food producers in the UK. Most requests come from potato processors, who are struggling with staff shortage in the packaging process.

Proven standards saves time
Mark de Boer, Sales Manager at Lan Handling Technologies in Halfweg (Amsterdam): “Fresh produce companies tell us that robots should be implemented in the packaging process as soon as possible. A lot of factories are short-handed due to, among other things, the pandemic and the Brexit.”

Since automation and fast delivery times are desired, Lan Handling benefits from its standard solutions that can be integrated quickly in projects. “For example, we are talking about 4 robot dolly/crate loaders and 6 pick and place cells that can be adjusted with relatively minor adjustments. Thanks to our proven standards, we are able to meet the requirements of our customers and install in a short lead time.”

Local and remote service
In addition, Lan Handling offers an excellent service level with its local service engineer in England and the recently introduced remote app. “Thanks to this new tool, we will be able to provide support from the Netherlands, as soon as several lines are installed and ready for production start-up at the same time.”
