Fertilizer centre planned for Alta.

Genesis Fertilizers has signed a land lease agreement with Side Group Rail to grant it a lease to build a fertilizer distribution SuperCenter in Rycroft, Alta.

The Genesis Grain and Fertilizers Operating Ltd. Partnership will create a farmer-owned fertilizer production and distribution network, providing urea fertilizer and a vehicle for farmers to participate in profit sharing.

The urea production facility will be designed to produce 700,000 tonnes of urea annually, with 525,000 tonnes available for purchase by farmers through an offtake arrangement.

The company is focusing its efforts to raise capital for the next phase, which will also include construction of a Genesis SuperCenter at Belle Plaine, Sask.
