East Yorkshire based butchers A. Laverack & Son have launched a new pre-packaged range of their much-loved products into convenience stores.

The family run butchers and bakers, who have stores in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor and Pocklington as well as a new concession in Wetherells Department Store in Selby, UK, have created the range in response to changes in both legislation and post-covid shopping habits which has seen many convenience retailers move away from traditional bake-in-store items.

The new range will include favourites such as traditional and flavoured shortcrust and flaky sausage rolls, individual pork pies, scotch eggs, meat pies and pasties, all hand-made by their experienced team, using high quality, locally sourced ingredients.

Director Amy Laverack said: “This range is something our team have wanted to launch for a while since implementing our sausage roll line in 2016 which enabled us to produce a higher volume of products each day.

“We’ve found post-covid that the way in which a lot of convenience stores are able to display and sell ready-to-eat products has changed drastically and so the new range has been created to make stocking our products more accessible and easier in light of these changes.”

The new range offers both retailers and shoppers a quality, convenient and locally sourced alternative, she added.

The smaller range focuses on the most popular products and allows the retailer to continue to stock them in a more convenient, pre-packaged way.

“We’ve designed our packaging so the customer is able to see the hand-crafted quality of the product inside as well as having all the necessary ingredient and allergen information to hand. They’re quick and convenient and perfect for customers who need to grab a quick bite to eat without compromising on flavour or quality.”

Founded over 150 years ago, the business has grown and developed over the last 25 years, first opening Holmemade Bakery and more recently in 2018. The wholesale arm has also expanded with the business now supplying retail outlets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and farm shops across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
