Founded by Montreal entrepreneurs Na’eem Adam and Thierry Rassam in 2012, the event was born from a simple debate about which restaurant had the best burger in their city.

“It all started with an idea — a question. Who had the best burger in town?” Adam said in a news release. “A fun hobby turned into the largest burger festival in the country!

“Le Burger Week’s mission has always been to promote local restaurant communities by raising sales and visibility through festival participation, as well as connecting burger-lovers to discover new favourites”

The first year saw 30 Montreal restaurants take part in the event. Eleven years later, the expanded festival includes hundreds of restaurants across Canada including 12 Metro Vancouver eateries. Participating local restaurants include: 1931 Gallery Bistro, MeeT in Yaletown; MeeT in Gastown; Fable Diner; Chirpyhut Fried Chicken; Bells and Whistles; MeeT on Main; Chickpea; East Side Craft House; Cavu Kitchen Bar; O’Hare’s Gastropub; and the Paddlewheeler Pub in Surrey.

Additional participating restaurants in B.C. can be found in Victoria and Kelowna, according to the event website.
