TORONTO — Mondelēz International has introduced the Cadbury Plant Bar, a vegan alternative to the company’s dairy-based confection.

The plant-based bars, which the company makes using an almond paste instead of dairy, come in 90g bars of almond and salted caramel flavours.

Mondelēz Canada’s vice president, marketing, Chantal Butler commented that the company became aware of a demand for the plant-based alternative in Canada following its launch in the U.K. Furthermore, she noted that the company understands how Canadians’ tastes are changing, and the company is directing efforts to keep up with new demand.

The bars are registered with the Vegan Society of the U.K. and meet their criteria for use of the Vegan logo on packaging.

All of Cadbury’s chocolate brands in Canada, including Cadbury Plant Bar, source cocoa through Cocoa Life – Mondelez International’s sustainable cocoa sourcing program that encourages responsible farming.

Mondelēz International recently announced that they were doubling down on their commitment to Cocoa Life with a $600 million investment in its cocoa sourcing practices, aiming to increase the number of cocoa farming households reaching a living income, enhance child protection systems and seek no deforestation on Cocoa Life farms globally.
