In the spirit of giving and just in time for Christmas, Rabba Fine Foods has partnered with Maple Leaf Foods to make a donation of more than 1,000 packages of bacon, valued at $10,000 to Food Banks Mississauga. As part of its Rabba Roots Community Giving program, Rabba has donated enough hickory smoked Schneider’s bacon to bring a touch of brightness to over a thousand families for the holidays.

“The holidays prove to be a difficult time of year for many and we hope this donation can provide some relief,” said Rima Rabba, leader of the Rabba Roots Community Giving Program. “It is important for us to unite with like-minded companies such as Maple Leaf Foods to commit to making a positive impact in our communities.”

The need for support of local food banks appears to be increasing year over year.  Food Banks Mississauga reports that 35,538 people visited them last year, and this represents 5% of Mississauga’s population. Of these users, half of them were first time users and 11,043 of them were children.  The number of children visiting Food Banks Mississauga increased 10% over the previous year.*

Rabba has supported Food Banks Mississauga for more than 15 years. This past year, Rabba made donations every single week to help local families.
