FMI recognized as MyPlate national strategic partnership champion

Today, FMI — The Food Industry Association, is pleased to be recognized by the MyPlate National Strategic Partnership Team as a MyPlate National Strategic Partnership Champion — the highest (gold level) recognition for efforts to make MyPlate a household name.

As a MyPlate National Strategic Partner for over 12 years, FMI collaborates with members across the entire food industry to raise awareness of MyPlate resources. The association regularly shares MyPlate news and information through digital communications channels including its blog, website, social media, email communications, and committee engagement. In addition, co-branded infographics have helped elevate MyPlate and the FMI Foundation’s Family Meals Movement, sharing the social and nutritional benefits of family meals.

“Shoppers rely on grocery stores as destinations for health and well-being,” said Krystal Register, MS, RDN, LDN, senior director for health & well-being at FMI. “MyPlate resources help our industry deliver reliable, evidence-based nutrition information right at the point of purchase. We greatly appreciate this recognition and all of our members who work hard to share the MyPlate resources with shoppers. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with MyPlate.”

As part of the 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, FMI members committed to reach 100 million consumers with evidence-based nutrition messaging in 2023. This commitment is tied to the Dietary Guidelines and MyPlate Strategic Partnership to highlight the many activities food retailers and suppliers undertake to support consumers with nutrition, health, and well-being, all with a common link to MyPlate.

“At the USDA Food and Nutrition Service we are working alongside our incredible MyPlate National Strategic Partners to meet the goals of the White House Conference on hunger, nutrition, and health and to advance nutrition security,” said Dr. Caree Jackson Cotwright, director of nutrition security and health equity for USDA Food and Nutrition Service. “We cannot do this important work alone, but together we can make progress that will change lives and ensure a healthier, more prosperous future for everyone in this country.”
