New herbicide for weed control in wheat registered

Batalium, a herbicide for the control of broad spectrum of grass and broadleaf weeds that limit the yield potential of winter, spring, and durum wheat, has been registered for use in Canada by UPL Corporation Ltd.

The company said in a release Batalium combats weed-related losses across all soil zones. Its forumulation features four powerful active ingredients from three modes of action, providing an easy-to-use tool for optimal results.  

“We understand the needs of wheat growers and have utilized our formulation expertise to create an effective all-in- one product that includes a safener. Batalium is designed to meet the current and future demands of growers who are seeking simple solutions. It enables them to cover more acres in less time while maximizing the value of their crop input dollar,” Jon Gough, Canada portfolio marketing lead for UPL, said in the release.

Batalium offers control of critical weeds, including Group 1 resistant wild oat, kochia, cleaver, buckwheat, and storksbill, the company said. It is fast acting and long lasting, has a wide application window, and features excellent crop safety.
