Serge Boulanger, senior vice president, procurement and corporate brands for Metro Inc., will retire February 1, 2023. He joined Metro in 1996 as a manager in the marketing team and was promoted to vice president of marketing in 2002. In 2009, he moved into the pharmacy division as vice president and general manager for three years before being promoted to his current role in 2012.

Larry Chmielewski

Larry Chmielewski, vice president of wholesale for Associated Grocers, retired in September after a 49-year career in the industry. He spent 35 of those years with Associated Grocers.

Ken Clark

Ken Clark, general manager, strategic initiatives fresh at Save-On-Foods, worked in the meat industry for 50 years, and began his career with the retailer in the meat department. He was promoted to general manager of the fresh departments in 2009. In 2014, he joined the corporate brands team as general manager. Clark returned to the meat department in 2018 as general manager before taking on his last role in fresh.

André Gagné, vice president, fresh merchandising, joined Metro in 2013 as vice president and general manager for Loeb Canada. He has 30 years of food retail experience, primarily in operations and merchandising, and served on The Grocery Foundation board for more than nine years and as chair from 2012 to 2015.

Cristina (Chris) Lo Cicero

Cristina Lo Cicero, merchandising manager for Food Basics, retired in late August after 48 years with the company. She began her career in 1974 at Miracle Food Mart head office and continued through the acquisitions of the company by A&P and then by Metro.

Tony Morello

Tony Morello, a grocery industry veteran, retires after more than 23 years working in both the CPG and retail sides of the business. Most recently, he was CEO of Zoglo’s Incredible Foods in Canada. Prior to this role, he served as president of Aurora Importing and Distributing, and worked in executive management capacities at Sobeys, A&P and Food Basics.

Jean-Guy Tremblay

Jean-Guy Tremblay, senior vice president, Super C, joined Metro in 1987 as a store manager. He owned a Metro store for a few years before joining the Super C banner in 1992. Tremblay held a series of progressively senior roles before being promoted to his current position in 2008.

Industry veterans Margaret Hudson and Jamie Moody receive distinction awards

Margaret Hudson, president and CEO of Burnbrae Farms, and James Moody, retired, and the vice chair of Tree of Life Canada advisory board, have received awards for their industry contributions.

Hudson and Moody are the 2022 recipients of the Food, Health and Consumer Products of Canada (FHCP) Award of Distinction, which recognizes individuals for their impact on the organization and the food, health and consumer products sector.

The Award of Distinction has been presented since 2010. Past recipients include Carol Stewart, Kellogg Canada Inc; Allan Cosman, Ferrero Canada; Marc Guay, PepsiCo Foods Limited; Tom Gunter, Fiera Foods, and ConAgra Foods Canada.
