Whole Foods to open store in St. Petersburg, Florida

A new Whole Foods Market is coming to St. Petersburg, Fla., and is set to open on Feb. 28, the grocer announced on Wednesday.

The Amazon-owned chain said the 40,100-square-foot store, located at 201 38th Ave. North, will feature design elements highlighting St. Petersburg’s reputation as the “Sunshine City,” due to its association with sundials.

“A prominent glowing sun greets customers while decor elements throughout the store incorporate sun rays and a palette of warm colors,” Whole Foods said in a press release.

The store’s operating hours will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The first 300 customers in line on opening day will receive a limited-edition tote bag and a coupon with up to $100 in discounts.

Whole Foods also is donating a refrigerated van to the nonprofit Good Neighbors. It also is making a donation to St. Pete Free Clinic, which aims to increase food access in the area.
