The Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) says it welcomes a $3.1 million investment for the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute (CAPI).
The funding falls under the AgriAssurance Program – National Industry Association Component, a crucial initiative within the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
The investment will enhance the National Index on Agri-Food Performance, a pivotal reference point for companies aiming to declare the sustainability of their practices.
The revamped index is also expected to play a vital role in showcasing the agricultural sector’s commitment to operating sustainably. Furthermore, it will empower Canadian food brands to substantiate their sustainability claims.
Since 2020, CPMA has actively collaborated with a coalition of 129 organizations to develop the index to facilitate Canada’s agriculture and food sector sustainability efforts.
