Federated Co-op says it’s opening more cardlocks every day after a “cybersecurity incident” late last week, the company said on social media yesterday evening.
“A main priority is to get all cardlock locations back online as soon as possible,” it said in a post to X.
Gas bars have been relatively unaffected and customers can continue to fill up at retail locations.
Last Thursday, Federated Co-operatives Ltd. posted on X that it was “experiencing a cybersecurity incident” that was affecting some internal and customer-facing systems at cardlock and retail Co-op locations. It had shut down some systems as a precaution and had brought in experts, the company added.
The Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses was announced in this year’s federal budget, and while details are still scant, it will return a portion of the price on pollution through a refundable tax credit.
The next day, Federated Co-op posted a list of cardlock locations that were open to purchase “clear fuel products.”
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Federated Co-op said that the specified locations were not selling dyed gas or diesel products.
“Local Co-ops are working to open additional locations that may be able to offer dyed products,” the spokesperson said.
Yesterday’s X post did not mentioned dyed fuels.
Co-op grocery inventories were also affected.
“We are prioritizing key grocery items and consumer goods for delivery to local Co-ops,” Federated Co-op said yesterday.
There is no evidence customer data has been compromised, the company said.
