Walmart gets ready to enter the pizza game

Some would argue everything is better with pizza.

Walmart certainly agrees, as the retailer will have Mr. Gatti’s Pizza shops in 92 locations in the southern U.S. Stores in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Kentucky are expected to have the offering.

Shops should be open by the fourth quarter of this year. Mr. Gatti’s Pizza currently has 230 locations across the country.

The Walmart version of the shop will be smaller than the original floor plan, with sizes ranging from 800 square feet to 1,500 square feet.

In-store restaurants are part of the new-look Walmart footprint. Last year, the Bentonville, Ark.-based company announced a $9 billion renovation project that included 1,400 stores.

Legitimate food options are part of the improvement. In early 2024, Walmart announced that Uncle Sharkii Poke Bowl shops would be installed in stores on the West Coast.

McDonald’s, Subway, Charley’s Philly Steaks, Domino’s, Taco Bell, and Wendy’s are also in the mix.
