Sormac showcasing precision vegetable processing technology at upcoming trade shows

This autumn, Sormac will showcase its high-precision vegetable and fruit processing equipment at two major US trade shows.

First, the company will demonstrate its cutting-edge machinery at the Global Produce and Floral Show in October, followed by a presence at Pack Expo in November.

Centre stage on the Sormac stand at Global Produce will be the company’s knife peeler, part of the sought-after UP series, which peels long vegetables with ease such as carrots, parsnips and cucumbers.

Ideal for fresh cut processors of all sizes, UP-4000 peels gently and with accuracy, offering speedy vegetable preparation with the minimum of wastage and high-end hand-peeled quality. Also to look out for, Sormac’s ever-popular slice and wedge cutter, the FS-3600 will be demonstrated at this year’s show. This versatile machine offers the perfect solution to a broad range of processing needs, including the slicing, de-coring and wedging of tomatoes, onions, apples, citrus fruits, sweet potatoes and many more.

The machine boasts an output rate of up to 3,600 pieces per hour including half slices and sticks. Offering maximum flexibility, the FS-3600 can operate as a standalone machine, or it can be seamlessly integrated into a wider production line with for example a dipping solution for apples (to stop coloration of peeled product).

Along with the above knife peeling and slicing solutions, visitors to Pack Expo will have the opportunity to experience the latest version of Sormac’s onion peeling machine, the hygienic USM-H100. Peeling up to 6,000 onions an hour, this highly convenient machine tops and tails the onions with precision, before blowing off the entire skin.

Thanks to Sormac’s air-saving technology the skins are removed effectively and precisely and without excessive use of air. The machine’s hygienic design features full accessibility and easy cleaning thanks to its open frame surfaces, all stainless-steel parts including the motors, and the separation of the cutting and peeling sections. This all reduces the risk of trapped product waste and promotes microbiologically clean end products.

All of Sormac’s machinery has been designed to achieve highest product quality and hygiene, minimise waste and reduce further work and human intervention. The reliability, performance and ease of use of Sormac’s technology ensure that fresh produce processors can deliver products quickly, given the short window of freshness fruit and vegetable processors have to work with.

Troy Burns, general manager at Sormac Inc., USA explained: “In supporting such a critical industry as the food sector, we know that reliability has to remain at the core of all we do at Sormac. We’re excited to be sharing our technology at both Global Produce and Pack Expo and look forward to meeting with new and existing customers.”

Visitors to the Global Produce and Floral Show can experience Sormac’s technology by visiting booth C-2001, October 17-19, Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, USA.

At Pack Expo, Sormac can be found at booth LU-8141, November 3-6, McCormick Place, Chicago, USA.
