FI Europe 2024: Corbion to showcase preservative solutions

Corbion, a global leader in lactic acid, derivatives, and functional enzyme blends will present its latest preservative innovations at Food Ingredients Europe (FiE – Stand 3.1 K62, Messe Frankfurt, Germany; November 19 – 21, 2024) highlighting solutions that enhance flavour, and food safety.

Corbion will be showcasing nature-based preservative solutions tailored to the needs of meat, poultry, and plant-based alternatives. With a strong focus on reducing food waste and supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, Corbion’s preservative solutions are designed to maintain freshness, texture, and safety, while extending the shelf life of food products.

According to a proprietary survey of consumers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa conducted by Corbion in summer 2024.

The results of the same survey also support Corbion’s focus on addressing the SDGs 2, 3, and 12 by responding to consumer behaviours that drive sustainability. For example, with 93% of consumers checking grocery stocks before purchasing and 91% reviewing expiration dates, Corbion’s shelf-life solutions help extend product freshness, reducing food waste and supporting responsible consumption (SDG 12). Additionally, 77% of consumers are open to products with longer expiration dates, which aligns with Corbion’s focus on food safety (SDG 3) and food security (SDG 2), ensuring healthier, more sustainable food options.

Corbion’s comprehensive approach to “preserving what matters” offers nature-based solutions that extend the shelf life of meat and poultry. These solutions also protect consumers against spoilage organisms like Listeria and reduce pathogen risks, while maintaining the product’s aroma, colour, and texture.

Key offerings include:

  • Preservation and food safety: antioxidant solutions from acerola and rosemary, as well as buffered vinegar and lactic acid-based ingredients.
  • Sourness and stability: award-winning solutions, including the 2023 FiE Award confectionery ingredient Purac Powder MAX.
  • Corbion 360 Models and insights: advanced tools like the Listeria Control Model and the Natural Mold Inhibition Model for enhanced product development.
