Wegmans Partners with Uber Eats to Roll Out On-Demand Delivery

Regional grocery chain Wegmans has partnered with Uber Eats to offer on-demand delivery from stores in Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. this month, with plans to add locations in New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware in February. Wegmans already works with DoorDash and recently expanded that partnership to additional supermarkets in the chain.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Wegmans to the Uber Eats app this January,” said Hashim Amin, Head of North American Grocery and Retail Delivery at Uber in a statement. “Wegmans is synonymous with high-quality food and exceptional service, and now customers can easily order everything they need for game day entertaining — from fresh produce to prepared meals and snacks — delivered right to their door.”

“Our goal is to make meals easy and help our customers live healthier, better lives through exceptional food,” said Erica Tickle, VP of Marketing and Digital Growth at Wegmans in a statement. “Partnering with Uber and expanding our delivery network is just one way we’re able to continue delivering on that mission.”

The major delivery platforms have been energetically adding retailers to their portfolios, including many outside the traditional food and grocery verticals. The Home Depot added Uber Eats as a delivery option earlier this week, joining crafts retailer Michaels and pharmacy chain Rite Aid.
