Walgreens Partners with Grubhub for Nationwide Delivery

Walgreens has teamed up with Grubhub to bring both Walgreens and Duane Reade locations into the delivery platform’s network, providing customers with on-demand delivery of 15,000 items including beauty, health and wellness, snacks, personal care, household items and toys. Grubhub joins Walgreens’ existing delivery partnerships with DoorDash and Uber Eats.

“Customers today expect to get what they want, when they want it, how they want it,” said Sharmila Sudhakar, Group VP of Digital Commerce and Omni Experience at Walgreens in a statement. “The addition of Grubhub to Walgreens’ growing roster of delivery partners helps meet that expectation and offers shoppers another simple and trusted same-day solution to get the essentials they need.”

Grubhub has been adding more non-grocery retailers to its portfolio in recent months, including Pet Supplies Plus, Office Depot, PetSmart and Starbucks, and added its first national supermarket chain, Albertsons, in June 2024.

For its part, Walgreens has been struggling in a tough vertical; in October 2024 the retailer announced plans to close 1,200 stores over the next three years, part of a turnaround plan announced in June 2024.
