Dollar Tree Hires Next Finance Chief

Dollar Tree has found its new Chief Financial Offer. Starting March 30, 2025, Stewart Glendinning will take the role after initially joining the company in a senior role to support Dollar Tree’s enterprise-wide transformation.

Earlier this year, Glendinning supported key initiatives within the company’s finance organization and helped review and establish strategic alternatives for the broader business. He will succeed Jeff Davis, who previously announced plans to step down and will remain with Dollar Tree to support a smooth transition.

“We are pleased to announce that Stewart will become our next CFO,” said Mike Creedon, CEO of Dollar Tree in a statement. “Stewart is a proven leader with a strong track record of driving financial excellence. In his short time with us, he’s contributed significantly to the review of strategic alternatives for our Family Dollar business, where we continue to make good progress. I look forward to working closely with Stewart as we seek to accelerate growth at Dollar Tree in 2025.”

Supporting Dollar Tree’s Strategic Future

Prior to joining Dollar Tree, Glendinning as CEO of Express and has held global CFO roles at Tyson Foods and Molson Coors Brewing Company, and served as President and CEO of a number of operating segments at both of those Fortune 500 companies. Although Glendinning’s tenure doesn’t technically start until March 30, he will join the executive team when it reports Dollar Tree’s financial earnings for Q4 2024, which ended Feb. 1, 2025.

“I’m honored to step into the CFO role at Dollar Tree at such a pivotal time,” Glendinning said in a statement. “What attracted me to Dollar Tree is its amazing culture, the passion of its people, and a very meaningful opportunity to drive a huge amount of value for the business. I look forward to working with the leadership team and our talented finance organization to drive continued growth and financial strength.”

Dollar Tree has undergone significant leadership shifts over the past six months. In November 2024, former Chairman and CEO Rick Dreiling abruptly stepped down, citing health issues. Shortly after Dreiling’s departure, the retailer promoted Steve Schumacher to EVP and Chief People Officer, and elevated Jocelyn “Jocy” Konrad to the post of Chief of Dollar Tree Stores and Enterprise Store Operations, and Jason Nordin as President of Family Dollar stores.
