Among all of Lemken’s latest tillage tools at Agritechnica last November sat its latest precision seed drill: the Faya MF.
The Faya MF marks the first equipment design project where Lemken has partnered with the Equalizer brand from South Africa.
“We had very good co-operation with the engineering between them and ours to create this row unit, and we added our singulation unit on it,” Lena Büsch, Lemken product manager, said at the Hanover, Germany, farm equipment show.
Today’s vehicles are bristling with technology, and there is no avoiding the electronics. But, all of that comes with a cost. Today’s vehicles — and farm machines — experience far more problems than older models.
The Faya is available in eight-, nine- and 12-row versions and has a working width of six metres. The modular frame allows for row spacings of 45 to 80 centimetres.
Each seed hopper holds up to 70 litres of seed and is equipped with a low level sensor.
A stand-out on the Faya is its fully redesigned, cast aluminum singulation unit. Seed discs are now easily accessed and switched out as needed from the swing-out cover.
“So the good thing about that is with very narrow row distances, you don’t have to climb in between the units anymore,” said Büsch.
“You can do all the settings from the back, and you can easily disconnect the disc and change it from canola, sugar beet to corn.”
A flap at the bottom of each singulation unit also allows for a quick cleanout of seed residue, a feature designed to make for a faster switch between seed types.
Scrapers atop the inside of each singulation unit range from mechanical to automatic.
“You can get a mechanical scraper adjustment,” said Büsch.
“Or you can get electric scraper adjustments or an automatic version so it’s adjusting itself.”

On top of mechanical and hydraulic coulter adjustments on the Faya MF, pressure can also be automatically set via a sensor on each row unit. The unit can be fitted with two or four depth control wheels, depending on customer requirements.
To lift and loosen packed soil while operating a tractor, a single cultivator blade attachment is located on the Faya’s frame directly behind each rear tractor wheel.
When it comes to fertilizer applications with the Faya MF, operators have the choice of a heavy duty single disc coulter and a compact double fertilizer disc coulter.
An optional fertilizer hose monitoring system that monitors in real time is also available when fertilizer is applied at time of seeding.
The Faya’s folding frame design makes for a transport width of three metres and a height of four metres.
The Faya MF is available now as a pre-series tool and begins full series production in 2027.
