German discount grocer Aldi is dropping prices on more than 250 products this summer, which it estimates will save its customers $60 million.
The company said in a press release that its targeting “stubbornly high” food prices.
The promotion includes a wide assortment of products such as trail mix, protein bars, pistachios, roasted almonds, honey, havarti cheese, and more.
The announcement comes a few days after Walmart launched its discount private label brand Bettergoods, which includes more than 300 grocery items with price points between $2 and $15. Most items on the new brand are under $5, the retail giant said on Tuesday.
Aldi also announced that on Thursday it opened a new location in North Liberty, Iowa. The fast-growing grocer operated 2,372 U.S. locations, as of April 9, according to ScrapeHero.com.
