Are grocery shoppers using AI?

Artificial intelligence is all the rage these days, but are grocery shoppers using it yet?

A new report from Kroger-owned data analytics firm 84.51° shows that just 17% of consumers are knowingly using AI to help with their grocery shopping. That doesn’t count the 10% who said they’re uncertain on whether or not they’re using it.

Nearly three-quarters (74%) of survey respondents said they are not using AI for grocery shopping.

Of those who are using the tech, 93% said they do so before shopping, 82% while shopping, and 57% after shopping.

“I use it to pinpoint items and get details with prices,” said one survey respondent. “AI allows me to be more efficient without the hassle.”

Those early adopters are utilizing AI to find deals (71%), compare prices (58%), build shopping lists (44%), and plan meals (42%).

“I am using the store’s app to get coupons, alerts, and recommendations on products that I buy on a regular basis,” another survey respondent noted.
