Bitcoin users will soon be able to turn cash into crypto dollars at 66 Fareway locations across the Midwest, announced Bitcoin Depot, an operator of the so-called BTM machines, on Thursday.
The BTMs enable users to convert cash into Bitcoin, which can be used to make payments, transfers, online purchases, and more.
The machines will be deployed at the beginning of the second quarter at Fareway locations in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, and Missouri, according to a Bitcoin Depot press release. The grocer has 130 locations in total.
“We’re thrilled to work with a growing grocery store brand like Fareway as we continue our own expansion efforts in 2024, reinforcing our commitment to providing easy and convenient crypto access to new and returning users,” said Brandon Mintz, CEO of Bitcoin Depot. “We anticipate a mutually beneficial partnership that enhances the cash to Bitcoin experience for Fareway customers.”
The BTMs have been deployed at more than 8,000 locations in the U.S., Australia, Puerto Rico, and elsewhere, the company said.
