Brewers join forces to enrich the Canadian identity through beer

Ottawa-based Dominion City Brewing along with partner breweries launches the “Glorious & Free, A Trans-Canada Brewery Collaboration,” which aims to brings together independent breweries from across Canada to create a truly Canadian beer.

Breweries are invited to brew their own version of Dominion City’s Glorious & Free IPA recipe using 100 per cent Canadian-sourced ingredients. A portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to non-profits that support at least one of the campaign’s core causes:

  • Connection to land and people: Organizations that support connections between people and/or our history and the traditions of those who came before us.
  • Welcoming communities: Organizations that contribute to a community where everyone belongs.
  • Getting together: Organizations that invest in shared experiences to strengthen our social fabric.
  • For generations: Organizations that support the creativity and ambition of those contributing to our country’s future.

“This campaign is an invitation for everyone to support local breweries supporting local producers and all of us together supporting our local communities to enrich Canada’s social fabric at a crucial moment,” said Josh McJannett, co-founder at Dominion City Brewing.

London, Ont.-based Anderson Craft Ales, one of the participating breweries, is working with Hayhoe Hops, Tavistock Hop Company, Canada Malting, Mississippi Mills Malting and Houblonnière Lupuline to source local ingredients for this recipe. Local proceeds will support Investing in Children in their mission to provide opportunities for children to grow, learn and thrive. Cans of Glorious & Free IPA are anticipated to be available to the public from Anderson Craft Ales around April 21, 2025.

“We’re excited to join with independent breweries from coast to coast to coast to create a truly Canadian beer, working with local producers and in support of our communities at this critical time,” says Gavin Anderson, president, Anderson Craft Ales.

The Glorious & Free campaign will run through Spring 2025 and hopes to create a wave of demand for Canadian growers and suppliers and a swell of support for service organizations across the country.
