Bruce Glaicar has announced his retirement from OK Frozen Dough (OKFD).
His career in the baking industry spans a long 37-year career starting in 1987 with Snow Cap Interior Foods in Armstrong, BC.
While there, he was fortunate to sell some of the very first cases of OK Frozen Dough product in 1994 and in 2006 saw an opportunity with OKFD joining the company as sales manager.
Over the next 10 years, he became responsible for a variety of other management duties and gained a lot of manufacturing experience. In April of 2016, OKFD was sold to a family run holding company and Glaicar was hired as CEO.
“The past 8 years at OKFD have been the most challenging phase of my career but also the most rewarding” says Glaicar. OKFD became a SQFI certified facility, completed a full rebrand and underwent many plant and operational improvements to increase capacity, even during the Covid crisis as demand continued to increase, pushing the limits of the plant while having to follow very tight COVID regulations.
Then, in 2022, OKFD decided to build a second production facility in Calgary, which was completed on budget, on time, and without any major setbacks. In February 2024, the first salable cases were produced, and we are now in full production shipping product across Canada and even up to remote communities in the territories.
“My entire career has been both a challenging and rewarding journey. Without a doubt, my tenure at OKFD and the success the team has achieved have been the highlight for me. I am also very proud of and passionate about the quality of the product we have been able to consistently supply to our customers, all while maintaining a very high level of food safety, customer service, and a 100% PO fill rate for the past 30 years. OKFD’s ability to maintain this very high standard is because of our very dedicated team and their ability to “Show Up & Try Hard” every day.”
During his tenure, employees have grown from about 25 in 2016 to over 85 full time employees between the Armstrong and Calgary production facilities.
Glaicar would like to thank customers, “are our most important priority” and the vendor community, without whom the company would not have been successful.
Channce Fuller has been announced as the next CEO of OKFD as of December 12, 2024. “Channce has great experience, and the right passion for our product quality, customer satisfaction, and most importantly our team”, concludes Glaicar..
