Co-op Community Spaces program offers $1M in funding opportunities

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) and its partner cooperatives are commemorating the tenth anniversary of their Co-op Community Spaces program in Western Canada.

The program helps create sustainable and inclusive environments in the region with $1 million in funding for recreation, environmental conservation, and urban agriculture projects.

“Marking our tenth year of the program is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate how Community Spaces helps us build sustainable communities together. The 175 projects funded through the program thus far conserve nature, provide urban agriculture space, and create places where we can come together to play and build relationships,” said Pam Skotnitsky, vice president of strategy at FCL.

Co-op Community Spaces was created to enhance the preservation of local environments, adding beauty and functionality to public spaces. Since its inception, the program has invested $12.5 million into 175 diverse projects across Western Canada. These projects include educational facilities, community gardens, recreational complexes, etc.

Co-op is inviting registered non-profit organizations, charities, and community service co-operatives to submit their applications online. The application window will be open from Feb. 1 to March 1, 2024, offering funding opportunities ranging from $25,000 to $150,000 per project.
