Costco opening date confirmed for newest Ontario location

Ontario’s newest Costco will open its doors this month.

The location of the store is in Newmarket, a town located 55 km north of Toronto.

It has now been confirmed that the store will open on Aug. 20.

While the mega-wholesale store will be located on the east side of town, it will be accessible to several other municipalities because of where it’s physically situated.

Technically, the address is on Harry Walker Parkway, but this Costco will be known as the one at Highway 404 and Davis Drive, which means that shoppers from Aurora, Markham, Uxbridge, Georgina, Bradford West Gwillimbury, East Gwillimbury, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Innisfil will be within convenient driving distance.

The new Costco will be located in a plaza setting that will feature other retail stores, including H Mart grocery store. The Costco will be a full-scale, typical outlet that sells food, clothing, televisions, and laptops and will have a pharmacy and food court. A gas station is also expected at the site.

The existing Costco that serves the area, located at 18182 Yonge Street and Green Lane in East Gwillimbury, will remain but be converted into a business centre with a reduced supply of consumer products, but with more goods and services that cater to businesses.

The East Gwillimbury site will close temporarily for its conversion.
