Croptracker releases new overhead bin scanning

KINGSTON — Croptracker has announced the release of their Overhead Bin Scanning system for Harvest Quality Vision (HQV).

Croptracker’s overhead bin system allows packers to know what is coming into the pack shed before fruit comes off the truck.

Users can prepare to get fruit onto the packing line while it is in the queue instead of trying to figure out what is coming down the line at high speeds. Additionally, large growers can also use this system to know what exactly has left the farm.

The company claims this system is capable of scanning over 4800 apples or pears within 30 seconds with a 98 per cent accuracy. This first build also incorporates automatic detection of trucks entering the scanning corridor without any human input.

At a lower price point, one worker can activate the start and stop of the scanning system.

Croptracker designed and developed the HQV overhead bin scanning in partnership with the Two-a-Day Group in the Elgin district, Western Cape, South Africa.

The company says the HQV overhead bin should minimize the amount of labour and skill required for scanning and packing.
