Modern Italian food brand, Crosta & Mollica, has introduced a plant-based offering to its pizza range with the launch of the Vegana Pizza and Pizzetta, available to purchase from Ocado and Waitrose from £4.75.
Crosta & Mollica aims to provide an authentic alternative for modern plant-based tastes while continuing to capitalise on the growing UK market for Italian food. Created with fresh quality produce, the vegan pizza can also be purchased Pizzetta-style, offering two smaller-sized portions per pack.
The Vegana Pizza starts with the Crosta & Mollica signature sourdough base, crafted in traditional Neapolitan style, proved for 24 hours before being fired in a wood oven, on lava stone from Mount Etna in Sicily. The base is then covered with a tomato and caramelised balsamic onion sauce to provide sweetness, and hand-topped with IGP Tropea red onions , grilled mushrooms and broccolini. The pizza is topped with a creamy chickpea sauce, with rosemary, sea salt and olive oil, taking inspiration from the Ligurian chickpea pancake, Farinata.
The Crosta & Mollica Vegana Pizzetta, x2 per pack is available at Waitrose from 19th June, with an rrp of £4.75
