Rabba Fine Foods has partnered with Burnbrae Farms and Maple Leaf Foods to donate 5,400 eggs and 250 pounds of ham to Food Banks Mississauga.
“At Rabba Fine Foods, our commitment to serving our neighbours extends beyond our storefronts,” said Rima Rabba, co-leader of Rabba’s community giving program, Rabba Roots. “We are privileged to collaborate with valued partners such as Burnbrae Farms and Maple Leaf Foods, who share our vision of making a positive impact in our communities.”
Since 1986, Rabba and Burnbrae Farms have celebrated the Easter Egg Drop.
“Partnering with Rabba for our annual Easter egg donation is an important tradition for us,” said Margaret Hudson, president and CEO of Burnbrae Farms. “We value partners like Rabba who share our commitment to addressing the needs of local communities year-round by providing them with quality, nutritious food sourced from our local farms.”
According to Food Banks Mississauga, 35,538 individuals sought aid last year, approximately five per cent of the city’s population. Notably, there has been a 10 per cent rise in the number of children seeking aid compared to the previous year.
“Our community continues to face food insecurity at astounding rates, and we are projecting that Food Banks Mississauga and our network of 65+ agency members will see 58,000 neighbours in need by the end of May, which is a 63 per cent increase compared to last year,” said Linda Bruce, food procurement/donations specialist of Food Banks Mississauga. “We are grateful to Rabba, Maple Leaf Foods and Burnbrae Farms for their donation to support neighbours living with food insecurity in this time of growing need across Mississauga.”
The recent delivery of 5,400 Burnbrae Farms eggs and 250 pounds of Maple Leaf ham arrived at Food Banks Mississauga before Easter. The contributions were delivered on March 18 by a team that included Rima Rabba, director of marketing at Rabba Fine Foods; Connie Goodhall, Ontario sales manager at Burnbrae Farms; Charles Park, sales manager at Burnbrae Farms; Holly Nonis, national communications manager at Maple Leaf Foods; and Stephen Carroll, business development manager at Maple Leaf Foods.
“After years of collaboration with Rabba Fine Foods to support their community efforts, Maple Leaf Foods is proud to partner in this initiative to amplify the impact of the Easter Donation,” said Stephen Carroll, customer business development manager at Maple Leaf Foods.
