Electrician (NOC 7241)

Job duties:

As an electrician working for PGS Equipment Ltd, you will assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, control devices, ventilation, and equipment.

Within this position, you will perform some or all of the following duties:

– Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations, especially in Farm equipment and ventilation equipment
– Install, replace, and repair electrical controls and panel boxes and the electronics of farm equipment and washing lines
– Test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits
– Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
– Connect power to audio and visual equipment, signaling devices, and heating and cooling systems,
– Install surface mount and/or overhead cables
– Install power generation, stand-by power generation, and power conditioning systems
– Ground and bond electrical equipment, systems, and structures including farm equipment, washing lines, and ventilation units
– Renovate electrical systems in commercial and rural structures
– Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
– Splice, join, and connect the wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
– Pull wire through conduits and junctures and equipment
– Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment on conveyor belts, ventilations, farm equipment, conveyor belts, box tippers, potato cleaners
– Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels
– Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of the system, following installation, replacement, or repair

Job requirements:

– Professionalism in customer service, Keeping maintenance reports and documentation, Designing and constructing single-phase service for single or multimeter installations,
– Design and construct low voltage (30 to 750V) multiphase service for single or multimeter installations, determine appropriate selection of materials and methods for hazardous locations, Instruct apprentices, Estimate costs and materials
– Experience with Emergency power systems, Data processing and computers, Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is an asset
– Experience with Generators and turbines, Dry cell and storage batteries, Fibre optics, Instrumentation, High voltage and energized equipment, Electronic devices, Conventional electrical devices, Solid state devices, Motors and controls, Microwave telecommunications equipment, Programmable logic controller (PLC)
– Working as well on location at Farmers: located in Outlook/ Broderick
– High School Diploma or Equivalent
– Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent education or experience as an electrician
– Must be able to communicate in English
– 7 months to less than 1 year of experience as an electrician or apprentice electrician required
– Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle
– Knowledge and experience within farm equipment is an asset
– Must be able to handle heavy loads
– Must be able to work in shifts and overtime in spring(planting) and fall (harvest) season
– Organized, self-starter who works well within a team
