Empire SVP Karl Vokey to retire

Karl Vokey, senior vice president, national sourcing and Own Brands for Empire Company Limited, plans to retire December 29, 2023.

Vokey has been with the company for 35 years, joining after graduating from university in 1988. His first role was as a trainee in the wholesale business. He played a key role in bringing together buying synergies with the acquisitions of The Oshawa Group and Safeway and lead the consolidation of the Wholesale business.

Most recently he provided leadership on the creation of Empire’s National Sourcing team and growing the company’s Own Brands portfolio.
