TUTTOFOOD 2023, the trade fair for all the F&B value chain, is the best place to benefit from trade opportunities between the two countries –in both directions.
That North America has a love story with Italian food is no mystery. And data proves it. According to Export Planning, an Italy-based analyst specializing in the F&B industry, trade with the US and Canada markets combined is worth 5.9 billion euros, poised to become 7.7 billion in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of +6.9%. In particular, the trade with Canada amounted to approximately 1 billion euros (943 million) in 2021. And more than 97% is represented by Italian exports. By 2025, the value for Canada is projected to reach 1.3 billion thanks to a +8.3% compound growth rate. Finally, Italy exported to Canada Milk & Dairy products for 74.4 million euros last year, a figure that is expected to grow by +4.6% to reach 89 million in 2025.
With almost 400 million euros in value, Wine takes by far the lion’s share among Italian exports to Canada. A figure that is expected to almost reach the 500-million threshold by 2025, with a CAGR of +5.9%. The runner-up is Olive Oil that, together with other condiments, sums up some 97 million euros (125.9 million in 2025; +6.7%). Another best performer is Bakery, worth 88.3 million euros in 2021. Bakery also sports one of the highest CAGR rates in the upcoming years, +9.2%, leading to an export worth of 125.5 million in 2025. Italy has a market share of more than a fifth in Cold Cuts and Wine, and approximately 15% for Dairy products.
Two-way opportunities at TUTTOFOOD
However, opportunities exist the other way around as well. Italian imports of packaged foods and beverages from Canada amounted to 26 million euros in 2021. A significant enhancement is expected in the next years, with Canadian imports exceeding the 100-million-euro threshold in 2025. The product categories that will contribute the most to this dramatic growth are Fresh & Frozen Meats and Bakery products, besides a traditional best-seller of import from Canada –Fish, that alone will be worth 21.1 million euros in 2025.
The best place to benefit of all these two-way opportunities is TUTTOFOOD, the trade fair for all the agri-food value chain, whose next edition will be held at Milan’s fieramilano exhibition centre from May 8 to May 11, 2023. TUTTOFOOD is the B2B exhibition for the entire agri-food ecosystem. Global and innovative, it is the reference point in the world for producers and distributors of quality products from the entire food and beverage value chain, who meet during the exhibition buyers such as: distributors, importers, large-scale retail, proximity stores, gourmet stores, food service, Out of Home professionals, chefs.
