Formosa Springs relaunches under new ownership with the intention with a direct-to-consumer subscription platform in April 2026 and expand across Canada in May 2026.
Originally founded by German settlers in 1870, Formosa Springs is one of North America’s oldest mineral water sources. The relaunch follows a strategic acquisition led by wellness entrepreneur Nicholas Reichenbach.
“This is a personal and family homecoming,” said Reichenbach, founder and chairman of Formosa Springs. “I am honoured to carry forward a 155-year legacy and reintroduce Formosa Springs as the next great premium mineral water brand for Canada and the U.S. We are building this company for the next century, with uncompromising purity and deep respect for where the story began. That is generational wellness.”
Formosa Springs Water is reportedly drawn directly from the original artesian spring beneath the property and bottled at the source.
The initial launch lineup includes still and sparkling mineral water in 750ml glass bottles and 355ml slim cans, with further category expansion in progress as part of the brand’s product innovation strategy.
With the North American bottled water market estimated to be worth more than $109 billion USD, Formosa Springs say they intend to focus on a domestically sourced alternative.
Formosa Springs operates a 44,000-square-foot beverage manufacturing campus in Formosa, Ont. The facility allows for the capability of bottling up to 100 million units annually and future capacity for up to 100 million aluminum cans.
