FreshDirect uncorks Rosé Express delivery for another summer

Online grocer FreshDirect is restarting its alcohol delivery service this summer to eastern Long Island, an upscale social and vacation hotspot in metropolitan New York.

Dubbed Rosé Express, the service — introduced last year — provides same-day delivery of grocery and two-hour delivery of wine, beer and spirits to the Hamptons and Montauk communities on Long Island’s South Fork during the summer season. This year, New York-based FreshDirect said yesterday, Rosé Express also will serve the Bellport, Shelter Island and the North Fork areas with delivery of fresh food, beverages, meal solutions and household staples.

“When we introduced the Rosé Express last summer, our goal was to provide a unique and convenient service for our customers in the Hamptons. The positive response was overwhelming, and after an outstanding first season we are excited to bring the Rosé Express back,” Dave Bass, managing director at FreshDirect, said in a statement.

Rosé Express delivers rosé and other customer-favorite wines, beers and spirits directly to customers’ doorsteps in special pink-branded vehicle. FreshDirect said Rosé Express also will make special appearances at select activations throughout the summer. The online grocer also noted that it fosters direct and exclusive relationships with local farmers and suppliers, including an array of Long Island artisans, purveyors and small businesses such as Great Gun Shellfish, Satur Farms, Wickham’s Fruit Farm, Wells Homestead Acres, Montauk Brewing Company and South Bay Seafood.

“As we celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, we continue to look for the best ways to serve our customers, meet them wherever the season finds them, and bring them everything they need to celebrate summer with family and friends,” Bass added.

Part of Ahold Delhaize USA, FreshDirect operates from a 400,000-square-foot automated fulfillment center and campus in the New York City borough of the Bronx. Overall, FreshDirect delivers directly to customers in selected markets in seven states, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Its key metropolitan markets include New York City, Philadelphia and the District of Columbia.
