Gary Sorenson stepping away from Georgia Main Food Group and Jeff Starnaman appointed Chief Operating Officer

March 24, 2025, hən̓̓qəmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh traditional territory / Burnaby, B.C. – After 14 years, Gary Sorenson, President and Chief Operating Officer, Georgia Main Food Group (GMFG) has made the difficult decision to step away from the Georgia Main team in order to focus time and attention on some personal life goals.  

“On behalf of the entire Georgia Main team, we would like to extend our enormous gratitude to Gary for his leadership, his extraordinary contribution to our organization and to the grocery industry,” said Brandt C. Louie, Chair, Georgia Main Food Group. “The impact Gary has made on this organization, since taking the helm 14 years ago is considerable. Under his leadership we have navigated some challenging events and many significant successes. Gary also played a pivotal role in the Fresh St. Market brand since its inception, to its current 9 locations. Gary leaves a remarkable legacy of inspired leadership with us, and we know he will continue to be one of our biggest supporters.”

Jeff Starnaman, who has been working for the past year at GMFG as Vice President, Merchandising, has been appointed to Chief Operating Officer. Jeff joined GMFG after serving 10 years at London Drugs where he held several key positions including being a member of the executive team, and as well in Human Resources, Distribution Services and Merchandising.
