AgScape celebrated the milestone achievement of providing over one million educational experiences to Ontario students at its annual general meeting…
Now in its third year, the scholarship program supports students in any area of study that will benefit the Ontario grain sector or agrifood industry and supports the development of future leaders in these areas, the Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) said in a release.
First launched in 2022, the Legacy Scholarship encourages the pursuit of higher education and has been awarded to 19 students attending schools across the country in a variety of programs, including Aerospace Engineering, Sciences, Marketing, Economics, Agriculture, and more, said GFO.
“Ensuring that students pursue areas of study that will help grow and improve the agriculture and agri-food industries is an important priority for Grain Farmers of Ontario. We are thrilled with the reception of our Legacy Scholarship to date, and we encourage students to apply and grow diversity and interest in farming and the broader agriculture industry,” said Jeff Harrison, chair, Grain Farmers of Ontario.
The Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Scholarship is open to Ontario students accepted or enrolled in any accredited post-secondary college or university program. Up to 10 scholarships of $5,000 per recipient will be awarded annually, and up to five may be awarded to students pursuing non-agriculture-specific studies.
Eligibility requirements:
Scholarship applicants are required to submit a resume and a 500-to-1,000-word essay explaining how they became interested in their area of study, how their area of study and career goals will benefit the future of the Ontario grain sector or agrifood industry, and why Grain Farmers of Ontario should be a partner in their academic journey.
The deadline to apply is July 21, 2024.
