Gopuff launches 20-minute delivery | Supermarket News

Online merchant Gopuff has launched a 20-minute delivery service for customers who are part of its FAM membership program. The new benefit, FAM20, costs $1.49 per order.

During pilot testing, FAM20 orders were packed in Gopuff’s micro-fulfillment centers in 90 seconds on average, and customers received their orders in 17 minutes on average, with some of the fastest orders completed in less than 10 minutes, the Philadelphia-based company said.

“Gopuff has always been designed to bring instant experiences to customers and today we are excited to take instant to the next level with FAM20,” Gopuff CEO and cofounder Yakir Gola said. “FAM20 is a new FAM member benefit that promises delivery in 20 minutes or less. We are excited to leverage our vertically integrated platform and culture of innovation to bring the fastest delivery speed at the most affordable price to our customers.”

FAM20 drove a 10% increase in orders during testing. Customers will be credited $1.49 for late orders.

Last year, Gopuff introduced “lower-than-low-grocery store prices” on thousands of everyday essentials exclusively for FAM subscribers, the company said.

To become a FAM member, customers pay $7.99 a month or $79.99 per year. Members always get 30% off more than 100 everyday items, access to weekly deals, no fees and free delivery.

Gopuff is an e-commerce company that carries everything from household essentials and groceries to over-the-counter medication and more. It has hundreds of micro-fulfillment centers and omnichannel retail stores across the United States and the United Kingdom in cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Phoenix and more. FAM20 is available for FAM members ordering in the FAM20 zone, which represents a roughly 2-mile radius around each micro-fulfillment center, Gopuff said.

In 2022, Gopuff laid off about 10% of its workforce and closed 76 warehouses.
