Gosh! Food recently appointed Kemtile as a one stop shop to design and install a new hygienic flooring and drainage system at its new multi-million pound manufacturing facility in Buckinghamshire.
The 1600m2 Milton Keynes site – the vegan and free-from food brand’s second UK manufacturing factory – has the potential to double current production capacity. This will allow Gosh! to continue to meet current demand and expand into new categories.
Gosh! is Kemtile’s latest plant-based food manufacturer to be added to its impressive customer credentials – joining the likes of Winterbotham Darby, Kerry and Tofu King.
This single source flooring design and installation project followed recommendations from Valley Engineering – which designs, installs and maintains refrigeration systems. Kemtile’s longstanding working relationship with the ISD Solutions – the composite panel experts – also helped to secure the contact win. As did Kemtile’s impressive food and beverage manufacturing experience and credentials and its ability to provide the entire flooring solution and expert design input.
During the five-month project period, Kemtile installed 684m2 of trowel applied, high-performance polyurethane floor screed Stonclad UF, with complementary drainage channels and screed to falls.
Stonclad UF provides the perfect floor covering for Gosh! Food’s manufacturing process. It is very hard-wearing, incorporates a slip-resistant texture and has a dense impervious surface – making it hygienic and easy to clean. It is also installed in one application, which makes it ideal specification choice when down-time needs to be kept to a minimum – making it an increasingly popular amongst the UK’s leading food and beverage manufacturers.
Stonclad UF is part of the world-renowned 11-strong Stonhard Stonclad range – the global flooring system of choice across many manufacturing industries.
Sam Sage, head of operations at Gosh! Food, said: “Kemtile’s food industry credentials – combined with the team’s recommendations from and longstanding working relationships with our already trusted suppliers – made them an ideal fit for our team.
“We needed to expand our UK manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing demand for plant-based food, so it was crucial that we selected our partners carefully. Kemtile’s experience, expertise and reputation is evident and the flooring and drainage solution that they designed and installed is exactly what we need to support our strategic growth.”
Kemtile’s David Priest said: “Many of the projects that we win are initially based on referrals from industry peers or our supplier partners. The flooring and drainage solution that we recently delivered for Gosh! is yet another example of this.
“We’re delighted to have played a role in the expansion of such an ambitious and successful brand at such an important time for the plant-based meat market.”
