(TORONTO, ON – February 26th, 2026) – Grace Foods Canada Inc. is proud to celebrate Black History Month by supporting the achievements and contributions of Black communities across Canada. As part of this commitment, the company is sponsoring the University of Toronto’s 2026 Black History Month Luncheon with more than $15,000 in product support and a $5,000 contribution to the Black History Month Luncheon Student Bursary.
The bursary donation is made in honour of Dr. Mary Anne Chambers, recently retired Chair of the Board of Grace Foods Canada Inc., recognizing her longstanding leadership and commitment to education and mentorship.
Hosted annually by the University of Toronto’s Division of University Advancement, the Black History Month Luncheon brings together students, faculty, alumni, and community leaders to hear from distinguished speakers, enjoy live performances, and recognize the contributions of the Black community.
Grace Foods Canada’s sponsorship includes the supply of food items for meal preparation for the luncheon, branded gift bags and VIP gift baskets for attendees, in addition to the $5,000 charitable bursary donation.
“Black History Month is an opportunity to recognize the leadership, resilience, and impact of Black communities while reaffirming our responsibility to create equitable opportunities for future generations,” said Nimal Amitirigala, President of Grace Foods Canada Inc. “Education expands access and drives long-term change. By supporting this bursary, we are investing directly in students and helping remove financial barriers to academic success.”
Dr. Chambers has long championed education, mentorship, and community advancement. Contributing to the bursary in her honour reflects Grace Foods Canada’s appreciation for her years of service and aligns with her enduring commitment to expanding access to higher education.
Through this sponsorship, Grace Foods Canada continues its support of Black communities across Canada, including the Caribbean diaspora from which the company credits its origin. The company believes that investing in education is one of the most meaningful ways to create lasting impact.
