Greg Dietrich named CEO of Holstein Canada

Holstein Canada has found its new CEO, after a long search.

Greg Dietrich, a Mildmay, Ont. farmer has a long history in dairy genetics, including starting his career at Holstein Canada.

The national registrar and classifier of dairy cattle has been without a CEO since May, when Sartaj Sarkaria left the organization.

Bruce and Grey County Beef Farmers donate $4,000 to Grey Bruce Food Share, so families in need receive high-quality, nutritious meals this Christmas.

Holstein Canada President Gilles Côté announced that Dietrich will start the job Dec. 9, 2025.

Dietrich worked in business development for Holstein Canada early in his career, then moved to Semex, where he had roles in international sales and as director, Internal Product Development. Beyond his corporate experience, Dietrich has led and worked with teams to build and operate businesses including Progenesis, a genetic nucleus company, and his family’s dairy and custom calf-raising operation, Character Dairy Genetics, located in Mildmay, Ont. He also spent 10 years on Lactanet’s Genetic Evaluation Board, including as chair.

Holstein Canada employees Linda Markle and Chris Bartels have been working as co-chief operating officers during the time the organization was without a CEO.
