Grocery Business Shop Walk: Farm Boy, Oshawa, Ont.

Farm Boy opened its 19th GTA location in Oshawa, Ont. on March 14. The store marks the chain’s 48th location in the province. Grocery Business stopped by to see the new store.

Located in a burgeoning north Oshawa community, the new location features the signature Farm Boy design – playful and eye-catching signage throughout the store highlighting elements such as sustainable seafood, local foods and organic produce. As with most Farm Boys, the company’s private label brand was well displayed throughout the store. And a new creative design feature – oversized displays of Farm Boy products positioned on wooden crates hanging from the ceiling – shone an even bigger spotlight on the chain’s private label offerings. The company has been ramping up its offerings of Farm Boy products. There are more than 2,000 Farm Boy private label products today and a company spokesman says more products will be introduce soon.

Farm Boy is set to open another location in the Western GTA area of Port Credit later this year.
