Hazel’s Ice Cream – Bringing Family back to Novelties

Hazel’s Ice Cream started as a father/son business in Victoria during the pandemic.
Sam and his dad opened a solar-powered ice cream bicycle in 2021 to sell their handmade ice
cream bars to families and the general public on Dallas Road. What initially started as a seasonal pursuit based in a shared community kitchen has now grown into an interprovincial novelty manufacturing business in Saanichton, BC.

Now run and operated by Sam and his best friend Adrien, Hazel’s hand-makes all
their ice cream; their products now available in over 200 locations across BC and
Alberta. They take pride in making ice cream that is both nostalgic and personal, offering flavors like
Coffee Toffee (a fan favorite), Cookies and Cream, Bubblegum and their newest addition, Orange
Float.

They are proud to be a Canadian manufacturer of ice cream novelties, especially in a category dominated by American brands, which is why they always use 100% Canadian dairy in their bars.
An exciting development for the company was this Spring when they launched their Multipacks.
It was a project years in the making and the reception has been incredible so far.

“Seeing so many people enjoy Hazel’s is why we do what we do. Ice cream can make anyone’s day a little brighter and being a part of that moment is something really special” – Sam Vermeulen (Owner/Founder)
