The Feather Board Command Centre (FBCC) was made aware of symptoms consistent with highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a turkey flock in the town of Amherstburg.

The FBCC is advising poultry producers in the area to implement heightened biosecurity measures immediately.

This includes minimizing the movement of birds, people and equipment on and off of the farm and within the described area. Biosecurity protocols can be accessed on the FBCC website.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has established a Primary Control Zone (PCZ) in the area where the disease has been identified. Use the following link to access CFIA’s maps, which will be updated: Map: Avian Influenza Control Zones –Ontario.
